Family safaris are Jolita Safari’s area of expertise, and we have the recipes to keep the whole family content. The following are some crucial components:
- unique lodges with sufficiently large rooms
- accommodations with a lenient price policy
- cottages with unique characteristics and safety for children
- Itineraries with minimal alterations — a minimum of two nights in each location
- schedules that include non-wildlife activities and let the kids get out of the car sometimes
- Walking in the bush, riding a bike, beading with Maasai people, rock climbing, kayaking, building fires, etc.
The three most well-known parks in Tanzania—the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Lake Manyara—are explored on this 12-day Family Safari North Tanzania & Zanzibar. There is plenty of stuff on the schedule to occupy the time of restless kids and their parents.
Day 1: Arrival
Your driver/guide and our representative will meet you at Kilimanjaro International Airport. We will transport you to the Rivertrees Country Inn, a quaint lodge with breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro, located on the banks of the picturesque Usa River on an old German coffee estate. Mount Kilimanjaro and Meru. Kids can explore the park-like garden and observe mischievous velvet monkeys and sage owls perched in the ancient riverside trees. A small pool is a great attraction in the summer months. An amazing and evocative lodge with its own adjoining wildlife sanctuary, Mount Meru Game Lodge, offers an alternate lodging option. Enjoy a tea or soda on the lawn and watch as various antelope, including zebras, ostriches, and others, wander by. We will arrange for our safari manager to meet with you and give you an overview of your Family Safari Tanzania in the North. Three to four people can sleep comfortably in the family room where they will be staying.
Day 2: Arusha
You will embark on an expedition around the surrounding area of your lodge today, so you may unwind, sleep in if you’d like, and spend more time at your lodge instead of having to leave after only one night.
There are three alternatives available to you. Please select the option that best meets the needs of your family:
Arusha National Park: Proceed to Arusha National Park after breakfast, which was the backdrop for the high-octane Hollywood production “Hatari,” starring Hardy Kruger and John Wayne. Sheep of giraffes, buffalo, and zebras will pass in the savannah. Take in views of the majestic Kilimanjaro and flamingo flocks at Lake Momella, a great place for a picnic lunch. We resume with a game drive in the afternoon, exploring the various ecosystems within this breathtaking national park. Massive herds of antelope, shy forest duikers, elusive leopards, Sykes and velvet monkeys, and black and white Colobus monkeys—which are unique to this region of northern Tanzania—are among the attractions. On the slopes of Mount, you can hike through the thick forest if you’d like. To avoid getting attacked by some of the larger animals, you can hike Meru, or the crater rim, accompanied by an armed ranger.
Alternatively, you could do some cultural visits instead of visiting Arusha National Park. We offer as follows:
Mulala: Trip to Mulala, a charming community on the foothills of Mount Meru, for the whole day in order to meet the locals and see how Meru farmers go about their everyday lives tending to their crops and veggies. You stroll from Mama Anna’s farm, via banana and coffee plantations, over Lemeka Hill, and back down to the Marisha River, where you may see vibrant birds and entertaining monkeys, escorted by a local guide. Before you head back to Arusha, the local ladies will make you a modest but delicious lunch.
Nkoaranga Village: A trip lasting the entire day to the Nkoaranga small village. There, a community of small-scale coffee growers collaborate to establish a fair trade, sustainably farmed coffee enterprise. This cooperative is known as the local Fair Trade Coffee Farmers Cooperative. See the various stages involved in growing coffee by visiting the coffee plantations. Discover the methods used to gather, prepare, roast, grind, and package coffee beans. The first organic bean harvest is anticipated to occur within the next two years. All proceeds from coffee sales are reinvested in the project by the local farmers, who use them to expand their growing organic farming enterprise. Before heading back to Arusha, you can have lunch in the village. It also includes, if desired, a walk through the village to the nearby school or orphanage.
Overnight at Rivertrees Country Inn or Mount Meru Game Lodge.
All meals included.
Day 3: Lake Manyara
After breakfast, we make the approximate two-hour drive to Lake Manyara. 2.5 hours. The park is renowned for its breathtaking beauty and is situated at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Numerous animals, including buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, impalas, hippos, and others, are visible. You can take a leisurely walk along the Kirurumu River, which you will need to cross several times on large rocks, after spending the most of the day in the car. This is a fantastic chance to leave your car and take a stroll around this lovely area. Please be aware that it is impossible to completely prevent muddy, wet feet. After your game viewing day at Lake Manyara, you will immediately take the short drive to Ngorongoro in order to arrive at the crater floor early the following day.
Spend the evening at Ngorongoro Farmhouse, a rustic old farmhouse at the outskirts of Ngorongoro Conservation Area with large rooms which comfortably sleep a family of four.
All meals included
Day 4: Ngorongoro
Once you have breakfast, you will enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and then descend into the crater for an amazing game drive, complete with a picnic lunch, inside the Ngorongoro Crater, which is frequently referred to as one of the natural wonders of the world. It is home to some of the densest animal populations in Africa and is the largest intact volcanic caldera in the world. It is among the few locations where the endangered black rhino can be seen in its native habitat. You can expect to see lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, numerous birds, and other species, as very few animals migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000 feet high walls. The “Big Five” may be seen during a single game drive with some luck.
After spending some time on the crater floor, you might choose to take a second bush walk around the crater’s edge, where you might see playful monkeys, many bird species, and occasionally larger creatures like buffalo and elephants! Through deep wilderness, you follow animal routes escorted by a ranger or Maasai guide. As an alternative, you can go back to your lodge early and take part in a ritual for grinding coffee at the lodge’s own coffee factory. 2nd overnight at Ngorongoro Farmhouse. All meals included
Day 5: Ngorongoro – Serengeti
Following breakfast, you begin your 4-hour drive to the Serengeti National Park, where there is lots to see along the way! Zebras grazing, antelopes, giraffes, and occasionally buffalos hidden in the underbrush may all be seen along the way. When you arrive at a Maasai boma, or traditional village, a few Maasai warriors will greet you, give you a tour of the area, and give you an overview of their way of life. They’ll also demonstrate their well-known jumping dance for you, and if you’d like, you can join in! In addition, you can meet kids, take pictures, ask questions, and take a closer look inside of houses! You will have your picnic on a kopje, or outcropping of rock, in the Serengeti, and then drive through the park to enjoy an afternoon game drive. You may see wildebeest, lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, baboons, hippos, rhinos, antelopes, and numerous birds and other species, depending on the season and herd migration. You will spend this and the next night in a cozy tent camp on the outskirts of the well-known Serengeti, with views of the never-ending savannah that is home to various animals and typical African acacia trees. After dinner, spend leisurely hours conversing with other guests and the friendly security personnel by the outdoor campfire.

Take a leisurely wildlife drive around the Serengeti for a day. Head back to your lodge for a leisurely meal beneath the ancient acacia tree’s shade.
