14 Days Camping Safari and Zanzibar

Camping safari in Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro followed by Zanzibar is our prime itinerary – simply because it is the perfect combination for a Tanzania holiday.

Day 1: Arrival

You will be met at the airport by your driver/guide and our representative. We will take you to your hotel in Arusha for a free day of leisure, with your camping safari starting the next day.

Overnight at Ilboru Safari Lodge or African Tulip HotelDinner included.

Day 2: Tarangire

The first leg of your camping safari is the drive to Tarangire, Tanzania’s fifth-largest national park and home to an incredibly large number of elephants. One intriguing aspect of the park is the majestic baobab trees, which dwarf the creatures that graze beneath them. Since the Tarangire River is the region’s only reliable source of water, animals congregate along its banks. This park is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, and up to 6,000 elephants. Take a game drive in the park for the remainder of the day after arriving. Spend the night at a Tarangire public campground. Every meal is served.

Day 3: Lake Manyara

We leave for Lake Manyara after breakfast. Remarkably beautiful, the park is tucked away at the foot of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Numerous game animals, including buffalo, elephants, giraffes, impalas, hippopotamuses, and more, are visible. Spend the night at a Lake Manyara public campsite. Every meal is served.

Day 4: Ngorongoro

You will be driven to the Ngorongoro Crater early in the morning. You will drive into the crater for a game drive on the crater floor after arriving at Ngorongoro. With its 2000-foot-high walls, the crater sees very few animals migrating in and out, so you can expect to see lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, numerous birds, and other species. Spend the night at a Ngorongoro public campsite. Every meal is served.

Day 5: Serengeti

Proceeding to the Serengeti National Park will be your first stop after breakfast. We’ll have a packed picnic lunch. Once you have enjoyed a picnic lunch on a kopje (rocky outcropping) in the Serengeti, you will drive deeper into the park for an exciting game drive. Spend the evening at a Serengeti public campsite. Included are all meals.

Day 6: Serengeti

A full day of game-viewing in the Serengeti. Depending on the time of year and location of the vast migrating herds, you may observe large numbers of wildebeest, as well as big cats, hyenas, and other predators nearby, hunting for an easy meal. Elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions, monkeys, baboons, hippos, rhinos, antelopes, and numerous birds and other animal species may be seen all year. As in Ngorongoro, your safari driver/guide will communicate with other safari drives and will be as adept as ever in locating concealed wildlife. Overnight at a Serengeti public camping. All meals are provided.

Day 7: Zanzibar

In the morning we bring you to the Seronera airstrip, for your direct flight from the Serengeti to Zanzibar (short stopover in Arusha). Transfer to the boutique Zanzibar hotel The Zanzibari (upgradeable to 5 Star Hotel, see supplements on the right menu). Breakfast and Dinner are included. (Note: if you want to stay at a 5 star hotel, we recommend the Ocean Paradise Resort).

Day 8-11: Zanzibar

Relax and enjoy Zanzibar’s endless Zanzibares while staying in a Zanzibarfront hotel. You may participate in a variety of water sport activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, boat tours, and more. Breakfast and dinner are complimentary.

Day 12: Zanzibar

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Stone Town’s Dhow Palace. We have created a unique Spice Tour with loads of in-depth information not only about spices, but also about organically produced herbs, and will give an educational foundation of their traditional usage in medicine, cosmetics, and cookery. We offer you to an elegant lunch at a unique spice restaurant after the trip, where you may sample the spices and fruits you saw on the tour. Stay the night at the Dhow Palace Hotel or the Tembo Hotel. Breakfast and lunch are both included.

Day 13: Zanzibar

On our Historical Stone Town Tour today, we will show you Stone Town. This journey takes you through mythical Stone Town, where time seems to have stopped. It is a wonderful glimpse at the spirit of Zanzibar, including excursions to the House of Wonders, the Palace Museum (People’s Palace), and the Arab Fort, among other places. Zanzibar’s busy market, meandering alleyways, ornately carved and studded doors, two churches, and many mosques will all be visible!

Stay the night at the Dhow Palace Hotel or the Tembo Hotel. Breakfast is provided.

Day 14: Departure

End of your camping safari and Zanzibar package. Departure to airport for your flight back home or extension of your holiday.

This itinerary is also available as a lodge safari. In the Serengeti you have the opportunity to go on an unforgetable balloon ride
