Day-by-Day Programme

Places to visit: Arusha, Ngorongoro, Serengeti and Lake Manyara. The tour is ideal for the busy person who still needs to see Tanzania’s best. You will visit three spectacular attractions in a 4 day back-to-back safari.

You start at Ngorongoro Crater, which supports a year round resident population of a variety of wildlife. It is an attraction in its own right and is one of the wonders of the natural world.You then head to Serengeti, probably the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world. Serengeti is a big game haven that also hosts over 3 million large mammals!

You then close at Lake Manyara National Park, an ornithologists’ paradise that is also famous for the elusive tree-climbing lions. Your stay is in top class accommodation throughout.

Day 1: Arusha – Ngorongoro

Lunch will be served at Impala Hotel, Arusha. After lunch depart for Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You arrive in time for dinner at the lodge. The lodge sits on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater from where you get awesome views of the collapsed volcano.

Day 2: Ngorongoro – Serengeti National Park

After breakfast you depart for a half-day morning tour of the crater. This area’s main attraction is the Ngorongoro Crater, fondly known as “Africa’s Garden of Eden”. A candidate for the new seven wonders of the world, this massive crater holds its own in that category. Being the world’s largest unbroken caldera, Ngorongoro is home to over 25,000 animals. It is considered one of the best game viewing spots in the world with a chance to see the big five, zebras and wildebeests. The crater holds almost every individual species of wildlife in East Africa including the extremely rare and critically endangered Black Rhino. Return to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, depart for Serengeti National Park passing via Olduvai Gorge. Olduvai Gorge is the prehistoric site where Dr. Louis Leakey discovered the remains of Homo habilis (’Handy man’) regarded as mankind?s first step on the path of human evolution. Arrive in Serengeti in the evening and check in at your lodge.

Day 3: Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, commence at 0800 hrs on a game drive in the Serengeti National Park. Serengeti is the stage on which the most spectacular wonder of nature takes place, the Great Migration. It is on this park that millions of ungulates comprising of wildebeests and zebras make that all important trek from the Serengeti to the Maasai Mara National Park in Kenya. But that’s not all the Serengeti has to offer, it boasts the largest and highest concentration of wildlife in the world. Spanning an impressive 15,000 sq km area, this savannah is home to all the members of the Big 5, the splendid cheetah, gazelles, African wild dog, giraffes and approximately 500 species of bird, making it a bird watchers’ paradise as well.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park – Lake Manyara National Park

At 1400 hrs proceed to Lake Manyara National Park and check in at Kilimamoja Manyara Lodge.

Day 5: Lake Manyara National Park – Arusha

After breakfast, enjoy morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Famous for its breathtaking show of flamingos, this park also hosts the very rare tree-climbing lions. This is the only other location in the world where you can encounter these elusive lions. Add the over 400 species of birds, Big Five, blue monkeys, dik-dik, gazelle, hippo, giraffe, impala among others and this 330 sq. km park is a game lover and birdwatchers’ paradise.

Drive back to Arusha for lunch at Impala Hotel. End of the tour.
