Day 1

Mto wa Mbu Bicycle Tour and Makonde Tribe Activities

This morning, we will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha Town (max 45km from the centre) and drive to the location for our bicycle tour. We will get our bicycles and explore the diverse culture and natural beauty of Tanzania. The bicycle tour takes you through the vibrant village of Mto wa Mbu, where you can interact with locals, visit markets, and learn about traditional farming practices.

You will have time to immerse yourself in the rich artistic heritage of the Makonde tribe. Known for their intricate wood carvings and sculptures, the Makonde people will teach you about their history, traditions, and craftsmanship. You can even try your hand at carving your own piece to take home as a souvenir. This combination of activities provides a well-rounded experience that allows you to connect with both the people and the environment of Tanzania in a meaningful way.

Day 2

Community Involvement and Walking Tour

Today you will drive to the junction site where we will meet with a local guide and start walking to the Cold Spring which will be like 1km, we will see natural vegetation, some wild animals like monkeys and baboons as well as the habitat of various species of birds,  it’s like 1 hour to do a nature walk, from that point we will continue with walking from the springs to the onion farm, which will be like 6km to reach the field, where we will participate with local people to see how they work in the onion farms, and help with weeding, harvesting of onion, sorting onion, planting onion, etc.

From that point we will be picked up by car and drive to the lake to see local people who do fishing activities using local boats, for clients will be interested to do boating for a 1hour to the lake also it’s possible after we will drive to the hot springs and painting rocks, then drive to the hotel for overnight.

Day 3

Hadzabe and Datoga Tribe Visit

If you wish to learn about the Hadzabe tribe’s way of life, visit Eyasi. The existence of these traditional bushmen has enormous significance for the region. Walking is the primary activity here. Spend the day with the Hadzabe tribe and go hunting with them. The Bushmen dwell here, hunting with bows and arrows and harvesting wild berries and fruits. Once find the animal together you make a traditional fire with them and BBQ the hunted animal.

Later you will visit the Datoga tribe. This tribe forges copper and aluminium into bracelets, knives, and other implements, you will participate and learn how they make them and maybe buy them to support their lives. They also exchange these items with the Hadzabe. You will also visit villagers and learn, help and participate in making local alcohol and also experience the lifestyle of the people in villages. Later evening we drive back to Arusha and on the way visit curio shops to buy souvenirs which the owners use the money to help support their families. Later in the evening, we drive back to Arusha town.

Day 4

Local Dance Session and Rehabilitation Center Visit

Today you will get a chance to interact with youth in Arusha by visiting a place where young people can find security, and stability, and collaborate with each other to achieve these goals emerges.  Engaging in creative musical activities with local youth from Arusha which can be a source of fulfilment and personal growth on multiple levels. You will also participate in dancing which is a form of expression to convey emotions, stories, or ideas. It is a universal language that transcends cultural and linguistic barriers, allowing people from different backgrounds to communicate and connect with each other.

In the noon you will have time to visit a rehabilitation center in Arusha which can provide valuable insight into the healthcare system and social services available in the country. You will have a unique opportunity to learn about the challenges faced by youth recovering from various health conditions or addictions. Depending on our group size others will participate in making the food others will do some cleaning and later we will share the food and interact with individuals at the centre, visitors can gain a deeper understanding of the impact of these issues on Tanzanian society and potentially contribute to efforts aimed at improving rehabilitation services in the region. Additionally, witnessing the resilience and determination of those undergoing rehabilitation can be both inspiring and humbling, serving as a reminder of the importance of compassion and support for those in need.

Day 5

Tengeru Local Food Class and Coffee Tour

Today’s tour will take you through the community coffee plantations of Tengeru, which are home to enormous farms. You will also visit a home where you can learn and participate in the entire process of making coffee. Upon completion of the tour, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a cup of delectable coffee that has been made by you. Enjoy and participate with artists who dance traditionally.

Learn the fine art of cooking with a local family and be introduced to a range of dishes that are the favourites of the local people. Learn how to prepare traditional dishes from scratch. Immerse yourself in the vibrant flavours and aromas of Tanzanian cuisine as you cook alongside locals and discover the secrets behind Tanzania’s delicious recipes. From spicy curries to savoury stews, this tour is a feast for the senses that will leave you with a deeper appreciation for the food culture of Tanzania. Later in the evening, we will drop you off at your hotel in Arusha.
