Day 01: Arusha – Ngorongoro
Depart Arusha in the morning and drive to the escarpment of the Great Rift Valley and on to Karatu to your lodge at the foot of the Ngorongoro Highlands overlooking the Oldeani Volcano. You arrive at your lodge for lunch and spend the rest of the day at leisure around your lodge or karatu. Enjoy some quiet time by the pool, visit Karatu Town’s lively market, or take a guided tour of the gardens and coffee plantations, followed by a visit to the lodge’s coffee roastery. Some other activities such as forest walks or quad bike rides can be arranged upon request (at an additional cost). Overnight at Ngorongoro Farmhouse. Lunch and Dinner included
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater
Today you explore the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater. After breakfast, drive into the crater and have a wonderful game drive (with picnic lunch) in Ngorongoro Crater. Since very few animals migrate in and out of the crater with its 2,000-foot walls, you can expect to see lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, many birds and other species. Your driver/guide will interact with other safari drivers and amaze you with his ability to find hidden animals. If you wish, you can also take a nature walk (depending on weather conditions) on the northern rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, which is inhabited by buffaloes, elephants, baboons, monkeys and various species of birds. Accompanied by a ranger or Maasai guide, you follow the animal trails through the bush. 2nd overnight at Ngorongoro Farmhouse All meals included. All meals included.
Day 3: Ngorongoro – Serengeti
After breakfast, set off for Serengeti National Park. After having your picnic lunch on a kopje (rock outcropping) in the Serengeti, head further into the park for a game drive. Also expect to see lions, elephants, giraffes, monkeys, leopard, hippos, cheetah, antelopes, perhaps even crocodiles and many birds and other species. Overnight at Mapito Tented Camp in Ikoma, north-central Serengeti. All meals included
Day 4 : Serengeti
Full day to explore this wildest and most famous nature reserve in the world. Early morning game drive to also spot nocturnal predators returning from hunting and animals waking up in the early morning light. Full day game drives around the Serengeti. Depending on the time of year and the migration of the herds, you can expect to see wildebeest, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, baboons, hippos, antelopes, countless species of birds and of course the legendary “some of Big Five” – lion, elephant, Cape buffalo, black rhino and leopard. Enjoy your picnic in the bush, approach the hippo pool carefully and marvel at the rough, rugged and ever-expanding wilderness that surrounds you. Overnight at Mapito Tented Camp . Day 5: Serengeti – Arusha
Early morning game drive to also spot nocturnal animals returning from hunting and lions awakening at dawn. After breakfast in the bush, return to Arusha for some game viewing along the way, arriving late afternoon. Before continuing to Arusha, you will be served a hot lunch at a lodge in Karatu. Breakfast and lunch included.
