Jolita Safari has a wide range of safari options. We offer lodge safari trips in different price ranges and we also offer Tanzania group trips. There is also a very sustainable safari where we use Safari Green Camps in Lake Manyara National Park and Serengeti National Park or Ndutu Area. If you prefer to travel more adventurously and on a budget, then a private camping safari in northern Tanzania may be the better option. You will then travel with a guide and a camp assistant. The latter will set up the tents for you and also cook for you. We also offer climbs on Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro.

The south of Tanzania holds no secrets for us either. Here too we offer lodge safaris in Selous Game Reserve, Ruaha National Park and Mikumi National Park. Something special is our multi-day Ruaha walking safari. A unique way for the flamboyant adventurer to discover this beautiful park on foot. If you want t o include Katavi National Park in western Tanzania in your Southern Tanzania safari, that is no problem. All our safari options can be easily combined with a Zanzibar destination such as Zanzibar, Pemba and Mafia Island. Ask us about the best options.

What can you expect from our Tanzania trips?

We offer fair and competitive prices. No hidden costs, but no false savings either. By this, we mean that we do not do everything we can in a quotation to keep your safari as cheap as possible. Purely to persuade you to book. You certainly don’t have to stay in the most expensive accommodation for the best experience. However, ask yourself whether, for example, you want to save € 75.00 per person to give up € 150.00 in experience. For example, we do not like to offer you the cheapest possible accommodation where you spend the night (far) outside the parks. The result would be that you would not be in the park at the best times when animals are even more active. Furthermore, you lose valuable time by having to drive back and forth to your accommodation. You will then not get the most out of your trip.

Furthermore, we do not cut back on fuel costs by having a daily limit on the number of kilometers or by deliberately losing time during transfers in order to save on “entry fees”. Yes, you read that right. There are providers who try to keep costs as low as possible in this way. With us, full days on game drives are the rule rather than the exception. If your game drive is carried out by a guide from an accommodation, we will of course follow the working methods of the accommodation in question. This mainly applies in the south of Tanzania. Our professional guides come from the north of Tanzania and therefore, because they do not often visit the parks in southern Tanzania, they have less knowledge of the local conditions in the south. You will not miss this during your safari, which is why it is better to choose to have the activities carried out by a guide from the relevant lodge in the south of Tanzania. Unique, affordable and fair Tanzania trips start at Jolita Safari.

Where Should You Go for A Safari in Tanzania

Arusha National Park, a small park near Kilimanjaro International Airport, where, in addition to animals of the savannah, you may see rare black and white Colobus monkeys; Tarangire National Park, one of the most beautiful parks in Tanzania. The landscape is dotted with baobab trees, and the park is home to one of the largest elephant populations in East Africa; Ngorongoro Crater, a World Heritage site and one of the most famous wildlife refuges in the world and one of the few places left in Africa to see a rare black rhinoceros; Serengeti National Park, the vast savannah grassland and World Heritage Site that covers more than 5,000 square miles and extends north to the Kenyan border; site of the famous migration that includes more than 1.5 million wildebeest and 250,000 zebra; and Lake Manyara National Park, a small, beautiful game-rich park along the Rift Valley known for its tree-climbing lions.

Tanzania is almost unsurpassed for its magnificent scenery: from the snow-capped heights of Mount Kilimanjaro to the exquisite floor of the Ngorongoro Crater From the jewel-like islands off the coast to the awesome sight of the Great Rift Valley. However, these natural splendours are simply a stage-set for the astounding quantity and diversity of its wildlife.

Tanzania is home to Kilimanjaro – Africa’s highest mountain, and bordered by the three largest lakes in Africa – Lakes Nyasa, Tanganyika and Victoria. Natural highlights abound in Tanzania, including Ngorongoro Crater – the largest intact caldera in the world, Olduvai Gorge – said to be the birthplace of man, the 20-million-year-old Great Rift Valley and the vast game-filled plains of the Serengeti. Tanzania is home to the annual Great Migration of millions of herbivores is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

It is possible to view the ‘Big 10’ in Tanzania – elephant, buffalo, rhino, lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, hippo, zebra and giraffe – plus the famous ‘Jane Goodall’ chimpanzees on the shores of Lake Tanganyika. Tanzania boasts over 1000 bird species, with Lake Manyara National Park alone being home to more than 400. The people of Tanzania are courteous, sincere, friendly and hospitable, making visitors feel very welcome. It is easy to combine the adventures of big game viewing with relaxing Zanzibar holidays. Tanzanite, a rare and highly desirable gemstone, is mined only in Tanzania.

Best Time to Travel to Tanzania

Tanzania is almost unsurpassed for its magnificent scenery: from the snow-capped heights of Mount Kilimanjaro to the exquisite floor of the Ngorongoro Crater From the jewel-like islands off the coast to the awesome sight of the Great Rift Valley. However, these natural splendours are simply a stage-set for the astounding quantity and diversity of its wildlife.

The best time to travel in Tanzania depends on many personal choices and wishes. Each period has its own advantages and disadvantages.

The best time to travel to Tanzania (November and December)
These months are regarded as the ‘short rainy season’ for the north of Tanzania. The rains often last no longer than four weeks and are modest in nature so they have little or no influence on safari activities. If you want to climb Kilimanjaro, keep in mind that at altitude the short rains can be accompanied by thunderstorms. You can usually see the top of Kilimanjaro well in the early morning and late afternoon when there are often clear skies. During this period, the prices of accommodation in Zanzibar are often lower. It rains on average about once every three days, in short, sometimes heavy showers. However, your Zanzibar stay will hardly be affected by this.

The best time to travel to Tanzania (January to March)
A perfect period for the northern parks and for the Serengeti Trek in the south of the Serengeti and the Ndutu area. After the short rainy period, the soil is particularly fertile and perfect for the wildebeest and zebra migration to gain strength here and a baby boom takes place in mid-February. A feast for all predators. For this time of year, Tarangire NP is less interesting for wildlife. The bird life is also exuberant. Migrants, including the stork, return from other parts of the world. The first two months of this period are the best to climb Kilimanjaro. All in all, a basis for a busy season, which means that booking in advance is necessary. This is also an excellent season for an (extension) stay in Zanzibar.

The best time to travel to Tanzania (April and May)
These are the wettest months of the year. The start and end of the rainy season can vary annually. The start of the rainy season is the signal for the migration to move more to the west or Central Serengeti. A heavy mood often develops as the day progresses. Such a shower can affect activities in the northern parks. In southern Tanzania, some camps are closed. These are also less good months for a climb of Kilimanjaro. Fog and often rain turning into snow at the top are factors to take into account. Although prices are low, this is a bad time to travel.

Best time to travel to Tanzania (June to October)
These are very good months to visit the north of Tanzania. The season is classified as the dry season with low humidity. It can therefore become dusty in the parks. Temperatures remain on average between 20°C and 30°C. Except on and around the Ngorongoro Crater, temperatures can drop considerably due to the altitude. The animals rely on the last water spots and small rivers and are therefore easier to find. The migration continues further north via the west and Central Serengeti. Depending on the rains in Kenya, the migration leaves the Serengeti in mid-August to stay in the Masai Mara in Kenya for about two months. Despite the nightly cold, the months June to August are good months to climb Kilimanjaro. These are mainly busy months for Tanzania because of the school holidays in Europe. Early reservations are therefore recommended. The conditions in Zanzibar are excellent for a pleasant and relaxing Zanzibar break.

The above information about the “Best time to travel to Tanzania” serves as a guideline and is based on the average climate patterns of recent years. Just like us, a season can differ due to climate changes, among other things. So use this information about the best time to travel to Tanzania as a guideline.
